RABBIT HOLES

“Rabbit Holes” was a visual experiment I began in 2011, sparked by the emergence of mobile apps that brought corning/pinning techniques—once exclusive to professional digital tools—into the hands of everyday users. I shot source imagery at the Natural History Museum in NYC, then transformed those photographs using these early smartphone apps that were rapidly proliferating at the time.

While such distortion and manipulation techniques had long been possible in Photoshop and other professional software, I became fascinated by how quickly and intuitively I could now explore this surreal, spatially warped visual language using consumer tech. The immediacy of the process gave new life to an older digital aesthetic—suddenly accessible, playful, and pocket-sized.
